day 6 - a great day at the BH and in the city!

i'm gonna keep this short and save posting photos for later, because i am going to be disciplined and spend some quality time this afternoon practicing kazakh phrases! :-]

but we had a great visit today - no crying! that was a blessed change, and just a real encouragement. we had so much fun playing cars with R, giving him a horseback ride (he did NOT know what to make of that; he didn't really smile - but we think he enjoyed it anyway), stacking these big legos, and playing with Leo the Lion puppet again - he just really seems to be intrigued with that thing. we didn't get so many smiles today, but he played well and seemed to be more at ease.

he's just such a honey - we just enjoy being with him a LOT; and though we wish we could hurry the responding to us part, it is truly a joy to hang out with this little boy. can't wait to see him flower.

afterwards Aya, our translator, went with rob and me to the bakery we remembered from last time for a scrumptious lunch, and then shopping! she is such a sweetie and we had just a GREAT time! we found some cute little books with sounds for R since he likes sounds so much, and we looked for shirts for Rob - but button shirts are near to impossible to find here at this time of year, so we sent him back to the hotel (i'm sure he was quite glad not to trudge around in the cold any longer). ;-p

Aya and i had some GREAT girl-time, and i found boots! i was originally looking for something more fashionable with a small heal, but practical has once again one over; i think i'm gonna like these and they'll serve me well during these next three weeks, as well as the next few years back home--which is a good thing, because they weren't cheap. ;-p i'll post photos tomorrow, i don't want to take the time today.

anyway, just feeling really grateful for a full, wonderful day. thank you, Lord.

  2. What a blessing! You'll have to show us a picture of you in your boots. It's awesome that you're learning Kazakh! I studied 18 units of Pimseleur's Thai. It really came in handy! The more of the similar words, sounds, smells, tastes, etc. that you can share with your child I think the more you help smooth out their transition.

  3. yeah, it's too bad that our boy doesn't understand russian! so we're learning kazakh for him and pretty much letting russian fall by the wayside. still, it's handy to know what i know, though i forgot a lot since last winter when i learned it. ;-p
