the skinny:
- rob was feeling a little better but stayed back at the hotel while i went with other families to the bakery/deli - a walk across the bridge and downtown - my first real outing on foot! it was fun, and i posted some photos yesterday. found some ramen type noodles for rob - his 3rd chicken soup meal.
-bonding went well today! baby A seems more and more comfortable around us, was a little more mobile, and really is just a lot of fun to interact with and observe; actually, he seems to be pretty smart and catches on to things we show him rather quickly. i think he's finally starting to recognize and like us a little, as when i walked him over to the other kids at the end, he complained when i walked away, holding up a toy and reaching for me to come walk with him some more. yay!! that's the first time he's done anything like that. :-)
- another positive report from the UofM...they can't guarantee us anything, but the doc there has been consistently and cautiously optimistic in her assessments of what she's seeing. this is SO encouraging; now if we can just find a way to help this little boy put on some pounds!
-ate here at the restaurant again; though we don't do that much, it just feels good to stay here some nights. more chicken soup for rob, the only thing that sounds good to him. his chest is pretty congested and i have now pulled out the baby chest rub for him - thanks Kassidy!
thanks for the prayers, everyone. we are feeling so much better--well, emotionally for sure, though not physically for Rob; please keep praying for him. you know how it is to be sick away from home, but at least he has a lot of time to rest. God is definitely taking care of us and with us in all this.
so, maybe i don't need a fatty report today. or, maybe my skinny report is morphing into my fatty report. sigh... i've never been good at the nutshell version. ;-p
I got all caught up on your entries. It is very emotionally draining. But our stories are a little different as we picked Penny out from the start on a waiting child list and felt like I had already begun bonding with her for two years before we actually met her. But, I had a panic-stricken moment at the hotel in Seattle, thinking, "What in the world am I thinking? I don't know how to parent a teenager." And there are moments when I still wonder, "What were we thinking?" But to see our daughter blossom before our eyes and witness God working in her life has also been an amazing blessing. I'm sure that God will continue to give you His peace no matter how your journey ends up. Praying with you!
