day 3 in Ust

i'm able to log onto here today, for whatever reason, so guess i'll post something! it's 2 p.m. and we're enjoying some down time after our morning meeting at the baby house, which usually translates into us starting to feel very sleepy and draggy. in fact, yesterday at 5 i was SO exhausted, i couldn't even see straight, think straight, and i knew if i napped it'd be all over...

so we headed downstairs to the lobby for a cappuccino and some dice before supper at Pizza Blues with the Coles. big mistake, HUGE. guess who couldn't fall asleep until 2 a.m.??? Yep. and who was then awake by 5:30.??? so i'm not sure what i'm running on here, fumes, maybe? or... happiness. :-)

yes, we saw sweeeeeet Little R again today, and let me just say, this little guy is completely melting us! he is still very shy, cried a little when we first saw him - but he doesn't make a fuss about going to us. he's timid about playing with something at first, but gradually warms up to it. we played  ball for a little bit, then with a pull toy, then stacking cups (he was amazing with those; totally able to stack little ones in bigger ones, and able to stack them all on top of each other) then with a book on cars, then with some little finger puppets. he liked to have them on his fingers, but then he didn't really konw what to do with them - so cute. in fact, i'll pull a  jim hansen here and post a little teaser photo:

i wish i could post some photos for you all to see!!! but i guess that is not wise at this point. ;-) just picture a very cute little asian boy with the chubbiest cheeks ever and an adorable dimple we get to see every once in a while when he smiles , and these gentle brown eyes - if you can do that, then i guess you're seeing Little R. ;-D

anyway, we got bored with most of the toys we brought yesterday, plus there are several other families in the same room, so he gets pretty distracted by them - he's always looking to see where the other sounds are coming from. we finally took him and plunked down with him right in the midst of two families from Spain and a couple from Germany and played ball; he was actually more attentive in the midst of the action than when he was a ways away. we did patty-cake for a bit, and we'll do that tomorrow - also teaching him to do a high-five. :-)

he's so reserved...he has this irresistible bit of a smile that forms on the left corner of his mouth  - it's like he's enjoying something, but he's not sure he should let you know it- it's so cute! ugh, listen to me gush. but i can't really help it.

we were supposed to get to meet with the doctor and hear about his background and medical information today, but that didn't happen - we'll meet with her tomorrow. i look forward to hearing ...we don't really know anything about Little R's life yet, except that we think he's totally precious and are fast becoming very attached to him. that is perhaps the most important, isn't it? it's really not what i was expecting, but i'm grateful to feel it.

i hope we can get him to open up more...he's not moving around too much yet, he's very ...tentative, i guess that would be the word. but i hope each day he can feel more and more at home.
(bonnie, remember the turtle thing? you were so dead ON! i've really appreciated this thought many times already.)

rob and i are going to go to the market for a little while now; hoping it's a good way to stay awake till supper. i could do some work, but i'm afraid if i sit on this bed any longer, i will find myself in a horizontal position. i HAVE to sleep tonight, so that wouldn't do.

good night, all, or good morning... talk to you again soon...thanks for following along on this journey with us! :-)
