people that matter most, part 3 --acckk!!

i made a gross oversight!

i thought i had posted my bestest friend rhonda and my special olympics day on the post before last - so i didn't include that on the last pennsylvania post. how horrifying last night to realize i posted that stuff to Facebook, and NOT to my blog!

so, here is People That Matter, Part 3 (last, but NOT least, Pondo. :-) )
*****************

i got to spend the day with Rhonda at Messiah College (where she works) helping out with special olympics! i'd never done anything like it, and i had so much fun!
they had enough "buddies" that Rhonda and i could be together as buddies for Jonathan. He's a really sweet 16 year old (i think he was 16?) who is partially or legally blind. he was such an easy-going and likeable guy, that really made it easy. aren't rhonda's braids cute? i love 'em.

Jonathan did the shot put and also the 100m walk.

There were probably a couple 1000 people! It was a beautiful day, and there was just such a positive atmosphere; i can see why people get hooked to helping out with this sort of thing. it was really fun for me, and certainly fun for the participants, from what i could tell.

gotta love the ladybug shirts, ha?
f
for the last nineteen years or so we've been trying to get that perfect photo of us.
this probably isn't it. :-) but oh well, we had fun!(and the real question: whose braid is it, anyway??)

we also went for wings at a less-than-stellar place. oh well to that too. when we're together it's usually the conversation that matters most...that and all the laughing we do from all the inside jokes we've accumulated over the years. we can really get ourselves going at, what would seem to others, the dumbest stuff!

i guess that's what best friends are for!!! :-D
